The City of Cullman hires
full-time police department positions from the current civil
service roster.
The requirements are as
follows:

Minimum of 21 years
of age
-
Already completed or
be eligible within a 12 month period to complete the
Police Academy or already completed or be eligible
within a 12 month period to graduate with a 2-year law
enforcement related degree; or

Already completed or be eligible within a 12 month period to graduate with a
4-year degree in any college discipline.
- Preference will be given to current
Police Reserves and Veterans honorably discharged.
Beginning salary for certified officer is
$26,965. Non-certified is $26,850. Employment with
the City of Cullman is contingent upon a successful
completion of a written exam and drug test. A physical fitness
and polygraph exam may be required.
All applicants meeting one of these criteria may request by regular
or electronic mail an application to take the civil service exam.
Applications are accepted at any time and maintained on file for
one year. If the exam is given within this time period the Personnel
Director will notify candidates by mail when to appear to take the
exam. Applications are available in the Human Resources department
in the City Hall building.
For all other job openings in the Police Department, please watch
this web site as well as local news media for public notifications
that a position is open and the City of Cullman is now accepting
applications for that position by a specified date. Once this date
is passed, all candidates will be notified by the Personnel Director
when to appear to take the civil service examination.
An interview committee will interview top scoring applicants.
